Superior Steel Supply inventories, distributes and saw cuts a wide range of UM plate also known as universal mill plate or flat bars. UM plates typically range from 3/16” x 9” up to 1” x 13” and primarily come in 20’ lengths. Superior Steel Supply can saw cut your flat bar requirements down to size with our inhouse saw service.
UM plates produced domestically are primarily done by the use of Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) that use 95%+ post-consumer recycled scrap.
UM plates are mild steel and may be produced from the mill that could meet multiple grade specifications simultaneously including ASTM A36, ASTM A529 grade 50, CSA 44W and CSW 44W50.

UM plates are generally used in the wide array of steel applications including manufacturing, construction, infrastructure, architectural, machinery, trailers, metal fabrication and MRO (maintenance, repair and operational).
UM plates are a popular selection for use in the above applications as they are commonly saw cut, drilled, laser cut, formed, welded and can be industrially coated.
