Superior Steel Supply inventories, distributes and saw cuts a wide range of carbon hot roll strip. Carbon hot roll strip typically range from as small as 1/8” x 1” to as large as 3/16” x 8” and primarily come in 20’ lengths. Superior Steel Supply can saw cut your flat bar requirements down to size with our inhouse saw service.
Hot roll strip is generally produced in one of two ways. Hot roll strip can be produced domestically by the use of Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) that use 95%+ post-consumer recycled scrap before billets enter the rolling mill for final shape production. Hot roll strip can also be produced from hot roll sheet coil by the slit and gour process to create narrow strips.
Hot roll strip is mild steel and may be produced from the mill that could meet multiple grade specifications simultaneously including ASTM A36 and CSA 44W. If hot roll strip is produced through processing flat roll sheet coil, then the grade specification will be that of the flat roll sheet coil.
ASTM is the American Society for Testing and Materials
CSW is the Canadian Standards Association
Hot roll strips are generally used in the wide array of steel applications including manufacturing, architectural, machinery, trailers and MRO (maintenance, repair and operational).
Hot roll strips are a popular selection for use in the above applications as they are commonly saw cut, drilled, laser cut, formed, welded and can be industrially coated.
